I need to budget, that is for sure. I have not bought much new stuff lately. I do enter blog contests and occasionally win, so that is new stuff. But, mostly I just use what I have and that is definitely enough to last a long time. Thanks for a chance to win, and for the sneak peek of the issue.
I find ways to reuse as many of my scraps as possible and before I was able to buy my first tool I learned to use household items for getting the shapes I wanted. Sometimes I even miss those days!
When I first started scrapbooking I knew that I couldn't afford all the goodies that were out there so I improvised and made my own. I did a lot of paper piecing and made embellishments out of found objects. I even raided my grandma's button jar! I made it known to friends and family that I was scrapbooking so anything they they were getting rid of that would be good for scrapbooking came my way. Old greeting cards, ribbons, glitter glue (My SIL is a school teacher). I made it work! Even though I can afford more things now and my scrapbooking have gotten a lot better, my first couple of books are my favourite because I put way more time and effort into finding and creating the things that went in it.
I use saving tricks like cutting the paper that will be covered when layering, I also keep all my scraps (crazy but very useful, especially cardstock scraps), oh and I joined DTs :P
I don't scrapbook a lot because I always thought it cost too much. So I just made a few small album as gifts but not for myself. This book would help me a lot. Thanks for the oppor win!
I have often become discouraged by the cost of scrapbooking! I survive on disability and there isn't a lot of extra money. I will quit for a while, but can't stay gone long...then I start looking for things to re-purpose.
No, I can't say that I have. I'm a digital scrapbooker and there are lots of freebies out there, or I can just recolor and repurpose papers and elements that I already have.
When I feel like I'm exhausting my scrapbooking budget, I try to get together to scrap with my friends and make sure we all bring embellishments/paper/etc. to swap. The scrapping together makes me really look at what I already own and the option to swap makes me feel like I'm shopping for free!
Actually when I have felt that I can not afford to scrapbook i just limited myself to the supplies i had on hand. Even though I think that I need to go and purchase the all the new stuff I find that I have lots of goodies already once I start digging through all of my supplies. Its great to save on my budget and i can use up those things i have stashed. I also will scrap with friends to share items that I have with others and vice-versa.
I've never felt like I couldn't afford to scrapbook; however, I do try to watch what I buy and love getting a good deal. I love using scraps, finding new purposes for everyday things, using paint and other inexpensive embellishments to make printed paper, etc. i look for more timeless pieces and basic items that can be used in many ways, rather than keeping up with the most current trends that may or may not stay around for a time.
I have never felt like I couldn't afford to scrapbook because I can shop within my stash if necessary. My husband often tells me I have enough "stuff" (that's putting it nicely) to open a store! But really, I rarely buy items at full price- I only buy when I have coupons for the chain stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby and my favorite on-line retailer always offers discounts too! I'm a scrapbooker on a budget so I would love to win a copy of this publication to learn more tips and techniques for stretching my dollars and supplies! Thanks so much for the chance!
I've had to budget my scrapbooking, but since it is a special hobby to me, I'd rather forego other "extras" (not necessities) instead. It's easy to be creative, though, to make the most of what you've got!
Money is always tight but scrapbooking is an essential expenditure! Seriously, I find things at yard sales, such as unique ribbons and buttons, even tons of papers from one home. I use coupons at the stores and always buy items on sale. I print my pictures when it's .10 per pic or less. Recording our family memories is important to me and I will find a way to do that on a budget!
Giving up ?!? Never ! My hobby keeps me whole and sane. And not having endless money is quite more creative than buying all you want or need. I always check what I have and most of the time I find something useful. You can make flowers out of white coffee filter and you can use corrugated card board for great designs, nothing else needed.
I'd love to learn more on budget scrapbooking !!!
Thanks for the great chance to win a copy !!
I keep all scraps, use cereal boxes as chipboard, and use items from the dollar stores in order to save money. I have more time than money so I often make my own embellishments instead of using pricier ones.

I love to scrapbook! I have been doing it since the 80"s, back then there was not much and I use to cut up magazines to embelish my pages, now that I have to be more aware of what I can spend, I also reuse my ceral boxes, paint chips, magazines, paint, or make my own stickers, also there are several website were you can download and print your own or copy pretty paper and get to use it more than once!
SOMETIMES I HARD TO STAY CURRENT ON ALL WITH ALL THE NEW TECHNIQUES, PAPER AND EMBELLISHMENTS. TO ADD TO MY EMBELLISHMENTS I TRY TO REMEMBER TO CHECK CLIP ART OF ITEMS NOT ALREADY IN MY CRAFT ROOM OR EVEN TAKE A PICTURE OF A PARTICULAR ITEM I WANT.
I have to stay on a budget so I usually only pick up scrapbook supplies on sale.
I use coupons whenver possible at the craft stores. I also use old cards and
I do ATC's so traders usually enclosed little goodies. Also I am encouraging our
woman's club to have a swap meeting for supplies.
Yes, hobbies are expensive, but I spend money on my scrap booking hobby rather than on a vice...like drinking!

I have never felt like I couldn't afford to scrapbook but I often feel like I have spent too much money on supplies. However, I love this hobby and I usually buy my supplies on clearance or with a coupon. I also save and use paper scraps, "shop" in my own supplies and sell old supplies in my garage sale. Thanks for the chance to win.
When I feel the money pinch, I become more creative. I use up some of my stash! I use paint, ink, and embossing powder to alter items. I use free clip art and print it on card stock or photo paper. I recycle/upcycle items like pop bottle tops, mesh bags, and cereal boxes.
Having a special needs child I had to cut down my work hours to take care of him, so money can get tight. Instead of buying new products, I follow the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog and use the month's inspiration kit to pull together a kit from everything in my stash to work with. It's a great way to use up the stuff I already have.
Yes I still do feel I cannot afford to scrapbook so I don't do so much.
Whenever I feel so & do not have the materials, I try to recycle. I try to use things like kitchen foil, scraps of paper, chocolate wrappers & all sorts of things. Love to have this book for more ideas.
