:BOOKSHELF: 2009 Reading List...

After I posted my layout called A Few Good Reads, I received a few requests for the titles of all the books featured in the focal photo collage.

Out of the books I read that year, it's honestly REALLY hard to choose a favorite.

Actually, I really liked all of them! I do remember being a little disappointed with the ending of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle though, but thought that the book was otherwise beautifully written.

If I had to pick a top three for the year, they would be The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Help, and Water for Elephants.

Here is the complete list of books that I read in 2009:

  1. The Kite Runner
  2. Chinese Cinderella: The True Story of an Unwanted Daughter
  3. Water for Elephants: A Novel
  4. A Thousand Splendid Suns
  5. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
  6. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel
  7. The Queen's Fool: A Novel
  8. The Memory Keeper's Daughter: A Novel
  9. The Help
LET'S TALK:
Have you read any of these books? Which was your favorite and why?

I've read #1, 4, 5 and 8. #3 is on my Nook waiting for the time to read it. My favorite of these was The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. I just loved the story and the people in it. I'm going to have the check out the others you listed.

I agree about Guernsey! Her characters were amazing and I just loved the unique format of the book...very fresh!
I've read 1, 4, 8 and 9. Loved all of them. If you want to read a good book check out Tatiana de Rosnay's Sarah's Key...excellent read

Karen...I actually have Sarah's Key on my Amazon wish list already!! Hopefully I will get to that one this year.
The only one I have read is Edgar Sawtelle. I too was disappointed in the ending.
I've read The Help and The Kite Runner recently. Loved both but The Help was my favorite. It's now one of my all-time favorites. I will read Water For Elephants as soon as I can get it from my mother. I've read good things about #5 so I'll be giving it a try soon.

Your layout is wonderful, Nathalie!! Thanks for sharing your work with me!!
To answer your question on my blog, The Girl who played with fire starts very, very slow but do not give up as it gets better... I just wished it was better earlier in the book!! Because of that, I am not rushing to read the 3rd one in the trilogy...
Thanks for letting me know. I will definitely keep that in mind as I do have a hard time sticking with books that don't catch me from the beginning.
I just read 2 of your top 3! And I LOVED them so much I guess I better check out the 3rd one! ;)
