:REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Bic Mark-its [CONTEST CLOSED]

Ladies...I have to admit...I really lucked out this time.

I was asked by a very nice lady at Bic to review their new Mark-it collections and she sent me a set of both the fine and ultra fine markers.

As you can see from the picture below, the sets come in a convenient tri-fold case. I am sure that I will just store them in this to keep them neat and organized.

Each set comes with the same 36 colors in three different color 'families' - Paradise Pastels, Earthly Expressions, and Fashion.

Personally, I see myself using the Earthy Expressions and Fashion colors more often then the Paradise Pastels, but that's simply a matter of my own color preferences. Still, I'm sure there will be topics to be scrapped that will have me reaching for the pastels as well such as Easter, new babies, etc.

Really, there is the perfect color for any theme...take a look for yourself:

Here's the twelve Earthy Expressions Colors:

And here's the twelve Paradise Pastels colors:

After some testing, I did discover that these markers WILL bleed through on standard notebook or printer paper, but since my main use for these markers would be in scrapbooking, I was more concerned with their performance on cardstock.

On the heavyweight cardstock that I generally use (Bazzill), I had great results - no bleed through for standard journaling.

Personally, I do see myself using the ultra fine set MUCH more than the fine as I would primarily use mine for journaling and like a sharper tip.

However, I know that there are a lot of scrapbookers and cardmakers among you that enjoy using stamps and hand-coloring your designs. For you, you might want both sets - the ultra fine for detail work and the fine for filling in larger areas of color. On that topic, I found this great tutorial for getting Copic like results with Bic Mark-its for those of you that love the look, but not the price of Copics.

A note of caution: these markers are not opaque. Therefore, if you use them on colored cardstock, you will have some color distortion. So, if you want to see what the marker color will look like on your finished product using colored cardstock, you may want to test it on a scrap of the same color or in an area that will later be covered.

A couple things that are nice about the Bic Mark-its that I haven't mentioned yet is that they have a comfortable rubber grip and the color name is listed on the side of the marker. It makes identifying your favorite colors a little easier.

Overall, very lovely markers with a great variety of colors.

GIVEAWAY:
I mentioned that I was lucky, but three of you will be also as I have THREE prize packs to giveaway! Each prize pack will include a 36-count fine point and a 36-count ultra fine set with a total value $41.98!

All you have to do is answer the following question by 5 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, October 28th, 2010 and you'll be entered for your chance to win!

Which color family - Paradise Pastels, Earthy Expressions, or Fashion - do you think you would use the most and why?

Random.org will choose the winners and I'll announce them on Friday, the 29th.

GOOD LUCK!

I've been wanting to try the Bic markers for a while now. Thanks for the chance to win. I would definitely use the Earth tones the most. I would primarily be using them to color stamped images.
I'm going to look for these Bic markers. I think I would use the Earth tones the most but all of them look great. Sally sjhackney(at)yahoo(dot)com
Hi
I think I would use more the Paradise Pastels because I love the soft look of pastel colors: I color my stamped images for cards. Thanks a bunch for giving us the opportunity to win!
Have a nice week!
I'd use the fashion tones the most. I am really into vibrant colours in my crafting these days and I'm itching to start an art journal. These would be perfect fot it.
Hey, these look great! I'd probably use the Earthy tones more, since I prefer their richer colours and they'd be great for cards etc. Pastels don't generally feature in any of the cards I write, since none of my friends have babies and we all love brighter colours. Besides which the brighter colours just stand out more for most things! I'm in Australia, so I'm not sure I can enter your giveaway, but I'd love the chance if I can :-)
I would think I would use the fashion colors the most, as I have two little girls and we love bright and bold colors. Can't wait to try these out.

I would use them all but I think the Fashion set would get used more than the other two!

Wow. What a great giveaway. I think that I would use the Earthly Expressions the most. They would be so great for coloring in all of my seasonal stamps. The bright colors for summer and the blues and purples for winter. Thank you, Jen
I've been oogling the Earthy Expressions for a while now, so I would definitely use those the most :)
What a great giveaway!!! I think the fashion colors.....becasue I tend to scrap with a lot of bright colors and like to doodle on pages or cards as well and love the kinda funky look :) Thanks for a chance to win!!
Thanks for a chance to win! So generous. It's a toss-up between earthy and fashion for me. If I had to choose one probably fashion...... Great tips on these. I've seen them in the stores and have been hesitant because I hadn't hear anything. It's nice to talk to someone who has.
i'm more of an earthy expressions gal myself, although the fashion colors look pretty good too!
I think I would use the Fashion colors the most because most of the LO's I do for my son are wiht primary colors. All of them are great though and I would love to add them to my collection.

Wow - these are all great colors. I think I would use the Fashion colors the most since I have both a boy and girl and I use lots of primary and bright colors. Thanks for this awesome giveaway!!
Hi Jill, WOW!!! What great collections. I would love to try them out. Thank you for the opportunity of a RAK and for sharing the collections.

In answer to your question, I would use the Earthy Tones. The colors are vibrant and would work beautifully whether doodling, making cards, or coloring stamped images.
The Fashion colors. I love bright and happy colors!
Earthy Expressions look great! I think I would use these colors the most, but would use all of the colors at some point. BTW - I would love to read the info on how to use these like Copics, but the link wouldn't work for me. I have a few of the markers and love them for coloring stamped images. Awesome giveaway!
I tend to gravitate to the earthy colors too so it would definitely be the Earthy Expressions. Thanks for the fabulous RAK!
Love the earthy tones. Have been wanting to try these for awhile. Thanks for the chance to win.
Are they acid free? I love those earthy tones and may get myself a set. Fashion would be my 2nd pick.
I saw these advertised somewhere and wondered how they'd be for journaling. I think I'd use to earthy tones the most. Love the warmth in them. Thanks for the review and a go at the giveaway!
I would use them all...I have discovered lately that if I think I don't need it I do! This all results from trying desperately not ot purchase anymore but to use what I have...and since I seemed to have purchased in bulk with "color blinders" (what did I ever think I would do with so much blue paper) on I need more accect colors to stretch what I have. The fashion colors are calling me...I like the blues!!!

p.s. the link for the copic-like tutorial doesn't seem to be working, but then it could be me...

I would have to say I would use the Fashion Colours more than the rest because they are more vibrant.
Fashion for me, because that's the colour family I generally scrap in.
Thanks for the review! I love all those colors but I think that I would use the Fashion colors more often. I love to use alot of bright colors on my daughters page. Thanks for the chance to win!
