:REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Fast & Fresh Scrapbooks [CONTEST CLOSED]

"If you've ever found yourself with more photos than time, or if you've ever felt a little intimidated or overwhelmed when it comes to starting - let alone finishing - an album, then this special issue is for you."

This is what Editor Jennafer Martin has to say about Fast & Fresh Scrapbooks, a CK Special Issue and I must say that I believe she's hit the nail on the head.

The issue is divided into 5 chapters:

Chapter 1 - Scrapbooks 101
"With the information & inspiration gathered here, you'll see how assembling an album focused on a single subject is no more difficult - and, in some cases, much easier - than creating a stack of unrelated layouts."

This chapter includes the 4 steps to album success to include BACKGROUND CHECK, BIND IT ALL, PICK YOUR PHOTOS, & ACCENT ON ACCENTS.

Chapter 2 - Photo Album Scrapbooks
"Creating a photo album scrapbook is a simple as tucking photos into pockets - and the creative twists shown here will help you put your own stamp on these time-saving projects.

There are 9 album ideas included in this chapter. All the album ideas included throughout this special issue cover a vast variety of themes, styles, shapes and sizes.

Special section:
Album Express - Includes two album examples from Elizabeth Kartchner.

Chapter 3 - Mini Scrapbooks
"Even if you've never scrapbooked before, mini albums are a fun, approachable way to get your photos out of the box and ready to share."

Eleven album ideas are included in this chapter.

Special sections:
Finish Line Scrapbooking - Shows you how to finish a 40 photo album in 4 hours or less!
Mini Album Helpers - Displays a list of products specific to mini album making.
Go Solo - Options for bare mini albums ready to decorate.

Chapter 4 - Computer Scrapbooking
"If you're like nearly 80% of photographers, you're already shooting most (if not all) of your photos with a digital camera. The logical next step? Using digital tools to collect, preserve, and share those images.

There are 10 albums featured in this chapter

Special sections:
Computer Scrapbooking Basics - Tips for successful computer scrapping.
Photo Book Comparison - Features a chart comparing the features of numerous online sources for creating photo books.

Chapter 5 - Classic Scrapbooks
"Full-sized albums: the classic choice for scrapbooking."

There are 10 albums featured in this chapter that show how page kits, product collections, layout sketches and more can make for hassle free albums.

Special sections:
Scrapbooking Sketch Style - Shows how using sketches can save you time.
Jumpstart Your Projects - Features albums using album kits or those with a little something that makes it extra special.

My favorite album ideas included a recipe album, ideas for customizing a printed photo book, a holiday planner, and numerous vacation album ideas.

My only light criticism of this special issue is that a few projects seemed very familiar...I'm wondering if they've been featured in the magazine or other special issues previously. I would prefer that ALL projects be new and never before published.

If you looking for an infusion of ideas to get your photos scrapped fast (yet beautifully), I encourage you to check out Fast & Fresh Scrapbooks.

No, I've never used a standard photo album, but it seems like an interesting way to make a unique scrapbook! This special issue looks great!

No, I have never done that. I only use scrapbook albums. Interesting idea though. Thanks for a chance to win this great special issue.
The most I've used are those with baseball cards-sized page protectors to insert small photos in a mini-album... Thanks for the chance to win!!
I have never tried to regular albums. I dont think I even have any that are usable any more to try it. I used all of them as coupon holders...lol.

A few years ago I made one for my friend's wedding. It was a wedding album, with the decorated cover already done (yuck). I was really new to scrapping, and knew I wanted to scrap the process of planning the wedding for her, so I got one that matched the album she bought for her wedding photos.
It was easy, but I don't think I would do it again, because I didn't like the pages that came with it. They aren't made for scrapping. The one I used had the sticky pages with the clear plastic overlay. I had to peel the overlay off and the sticky page is ugly so there was extra camouflage work. But, it was what I had to work with, and it did turn out really pretty.
That looks like a great issue! I have never used a standard photo album and used it as anything but a standard photo album.. but I might try it now! Thanks for a chance to win!
Before I "discovered" scrapbooking I used to do scrapbook type pages in regular albums. I don't think I'd do it again because I like the flexibility of post bound pages.

I have bought some regular albums to scrapbook but I haven't got to it yet. They are still sitting in the closet. But I have started using the WRMK albums and pages that are divided out into the 4 x 6's, 5 x 7's, etc. that are a full 12 x 12 page. I love these because I am not having to create as much; usually just some type of journaling and small embellishment.
I recently made a Disney album using a 3-up album. It encompassed 4 visits to Disnew World. Being residents, we had a special pass for the first 5 months of the year. I selected all Disney papers and embellishments and went to town. I am a slow scrapper, but this was pretty easy for me. I would definitely do this again!
I have never used a photo album for scrapbooking.
I have never used a photo album for scrapbooking either. It sounds like it might be a cool idea............scrapbooking with a twist! Thanks for the chance to win, I really want this one.

Yes, I have in a sense. I added stickers and removed some of the protective plastic covers to add 5x7 photos to the layout. It does make it easier and more manageable for me. I plan on making another for the vacation I just took at the beach also!
I have never used a regular photo album, yet anyway! I'm so far behind that I"m seriously considering using some photo pages and some scrapbook pages, or all photo pages that I add embellies and journaling to. I would love to win this book! Thanks for the chance!

No, I haven't.
I've never used a regular photo album for scrapbookin (although I do have one I plan to use for a project) I've created mini layouts for divided page protectors though & individual photo sleeves :)
No I haven't tried it, but I have thought about including some pocket pages in a regular scrapbook album...just haven't done it yet. Thanks!
No, I have never scrapped this way, but it does sound interesting. It would be another alternative to those of us who take tons of pictures, and don't want to just leave them sitting in the computer, never to be seen.
It sounds like a good idea to try!

I just use the regular scrapbooks.
I have a hard time thinking outside the box, so no I haven't used regular albums for scrapbooks.
I haven't done this, but sounds interesting. Maybe you could adapt it by adding in extra pockets and half pages etc.depending on whether the binding lends itself to adding in anything. The book looks fab.
I've never used a regular photo album as a scrapbook, but I do have plans for one as a recipe album!
Hi great question! Yes I've done several of them. Mainly small almost purse sizes to give to mothers on Mother's Day and friends. I've altered the front and back with various items and inside did scrapbook type pages that slide into the photo pockets. Completing the project by printing up pictures and adding them inside.
Hi, I've read about using photo albums and actually purchased a couple for that purpose, but, alas, they sit on my shelf awaiting my inspiration! Thanks for the chance to win some inspiration!
I haven't done that yet. But I have taken all my childhood pictures out of those sticky albums and I plan to scan them and make a simple scrapbook in photo sleeves. I think it will be a simpler process since I have about 15 albums of childhood pictures!
