Today I have a free copy of the 2009 Holidays Idea Book from Scrapbook Trends to give away! I reviewed this issue back in November 2009 if you like to check it out for more information on this title.

To enter, leave a comment telling me in what month of the year you start planning/preparing for Christmas and what it entails. Is this when you start your gift wish list, shopping for others, or making Christmas cards, etc.

You must leave your comment by 5 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 in order to be entered in the Random.org drawing. Be sure to come back on Friday to find out if you're the winner!

GOOD LUCK!

I should start now, but I will probably wait until at least October. I always want to do way too many handmade projects-cards, gift tags, gifts, scrapbooks-and by the time I actually think of them it is way too late! Maybe this giveaway is just what I need to stay on track this year!
In July I start telling myself that it's time to start working on my Christmas cards but the real truth is, I don't buckle down until late November - of course I'm panicking if inspiration doesn't come quickly enough! I love the Scrapbook Trends publications - they're always so breathtaking.
I start the day after Christmas with gift buying and i shop the entire year. As for making cards my family is so small that I don't as I would only have maybe 2-3 to send. And if I am making any gifts that ususally begins in September and goes right up to the day !
It's kinda a year long thing here........I have 5 kids so I gotta budget.....lol. When I am out and see a really great buy on something I grab it......we make teacher gifts and cards starting around october
I love to make gifts for Christmas - but - I seem to have those people that don't appreciate handmade :( The last three years I have made dozens of cookbooks as gifts and candy canisters. I started these usually in November.
I start thinking of gift items in October and try to finish things up the first two weeks of December. My husband is really busy with work (big online retail store) in December, so we're lucky if cards get sent! :-) This might inspire me to get working earlier!
I wish that i was that organized and could get things done early. We have so many birthdays, how does anyone do Christmas and birthdays together. I am lucky just to get a card out each year.

I start getting excited for Christmas in July, but usually start buying gifts in August or September and start getting card ideas together in September or October. I L-O-V-E getting ready for the holidays, but don't start decorating until the day after Thanksgiving.
It is not too long ago that I realized the reason for "Christmas in July"! That's because it is when you are SUPPOSED to start working on projects in order to be ready!!!! No wonder I can never be done on time! I usually start thinking about wish lists and homemade gifts around September.... I think this book would be a great inspiration to start early :)
Late October I will start budgeting for gifts, but planning? I do love the holidays and Christmas is my favorite of them all. I agree with your other readers, this book would be a nice inspiration!

you would think after giving birth on Christmas Day ...i would have learnt to be more prepared...but sadly No....i start making my cards in Oct ( having to make about 150) they are always ready to go out Dec 1at...but that's it for being prepared....I usually start shopping in Dec....I made the mistake buying gifts early once...only to be returning things as the kids either changed their minds, or the recipients bought the desired gift before Christmas....so know the rule is no one can buy anything for themselves after Dec 1st...DH and i wrap christmas eve...it's something we do together after the kids are in bed....

I usually start "thinking" about it in October. I did buy a gift this weekend because of the great price but now I have to find a place to put it. I need to start "making" items all through the year!
What a fabulous giveaway, Jill Marie! Please enter me for a chance to win!

Believe it or not ... I'm like a cliche, but I actually begin my Christmas 'stuff' in July. I start with cards ... and a l'il bit of shopping ... until it "snowballs" into a full-on Christmas decorating party. Someday I'll prolly decide against a six month prelude to Christmas, but for now, it's the way I roll, lololol!

Sending hugs!!
What a great giveaway! I always start shopping in October, then do my decorating in November. We usually keep it pretty simple around here. I like to enjoy the holidays and not feel overwhelmed by them
It really depends on the year. I usually shop for gifts and ideas at yard sales in the summer. I am using Swagbucks this year to help with presents. We start before Thanksgiving on the village and the tree on Thanksgiving day. If I'm really smart I'll be working on the handmade cards ahead of time, but you never know!
I would say that these days I normally start in September. Any earlier than that and I stand a chance of losing things or having them discovered :)
I am starting my Christmas in July sewing with a table runner for myself. In all the years I've been seewing, I've never sewed anything Christmas-y for my home. My kids are now complaining . . . I guess it's time to start : )
Um, November? Yeah, November. :-)
Shopping for gifts/making gifts for others is a year-round effort.... If I see it now - I can't expect it to still be available when I need it... If I have time and the inspiration now to make it - do it now.... time always runs away. (And this isn't just for Christmas - Birthdays too.)
I am starting my shopping now. I am also thinking of craft ideas, but won't start that until August or September when my little one goes back to school :)
I keep my eyes open all year for small gift ideas...but usually really start shopping in October. We decorate the house at the beginning of December and thats when the crafting starts for real too.
I start thinking about it about now but don't actually DO anything till the end of September/beginning of October....sigh.

I start Christmas shopping for the next year the day after Christmas (they have some pretty awesome sales then :) Christmas decorations go up every year the day after Thanksgiving and come down Dec 31. Christmas card making starts in July - so I can get done by the school starts back - and handmade year in review albums for the grandparents are started in July also (but usually are not completed until early Dec :) .
I begin in January listening for ideas from family and friends. I keep a watch for sales, and I also begin knitting projects that will be finished in time for Christmas. Spreading the accumulation of gifts throughout the year helps eliminate the financial crunch just before Christmas.
