:LIFE: Laid up...

Well, I've been MIA for a couple days, so thought I'd better let you know what has been going on.

I had planned to post Tuesday night as usual, but when my husband and I went to pick up our daughter from play practice, I slipped on some ice and broke both bones in my lower right leg. It required surgery and a metal rod in my leg...not fun.

Talk about bad timing...

I was able to come home today, but things are going to be a challenge for quite awhile. Recovery time is estimated at 3-4 months.

So, my posting might be a little sporadic in the coming weeks...or it might actually be more as I can't really do much of anything else at home right now.

Anyway, I do hope you'll stick with me...

  1. My sympathies-I dislocated and broke all the bones in my right ankle 2 years ago. It was surgery, crutches for 3 months, and almost 2 years before I felt that it was fully recovered. Hang in there. The great thing is that I found out how kind people were-especially the people I work with.

  2. I am so sorry. Can't imagine being laid up for that long. Maybe you'll have time to read lots of scrapbook titles and magazines!

  3. Well folks, she is going to have alot of "free" time for a little bit. Personally I think while we were at the hospital she was going through "Blog Withdrawl", so they gave her some morphine for that, and for her leg also. Three days without the laptop is long for her. I have not seen that much pain in her since she gave birth to our daughter Kaitlin. But as of the other night at the hospital, I'm thankful that my place of employment is shutdown, that I don't have to be at work right now. At least this way I'm around to help her out with the simple things we take for granted everyday. I have been without work since mid December and my employers "recall date" keeps being pushed back,(three times now). The first thing out of Jill's mouth when I got to her laying there in pain was "Honey I'm sorry." I asked for what? Her reply was that "We don't need this right now." She was crying , I told her that she didn't have to appologize, we will make it through this. I'm bound and determined not to "lose" anything we have. Bad situation, can't go and try to make some money, cause she can't be left alone. I will be spending hours on E-bay!!!!! Now for a good laugh. In the emergency room while Jill is in agony, they are asking all these "questions" standard procedure. Keep in mind she had four shots of some pain killer and then two big hits of morphine in her at this point. The nurse "very nice" got to the question of "What is your weight?" there was this long pause, then she looks at me. I couldn't help but laugh!! AFTER SEVENTEEN YEARS, I finally got her weight!!! It has to just be a woman thing.
Things just became really different in our household. Our daughter Kaitlin and I will take good care of her. Thank God she didn't break any fingers. I can handle alot of her things but I can't hang with her typing skills. Take care.

  4. Thank you Justin for such a great post, updating us on Jill's condition. I know this must be a really tough time for you guys, and challenge can be draining. I'm sure you'll all take good care of each other. My hubster got laid off in January, so we're too adjusting to a single income. I just really feel for you and hope you get up and about Jill. I'm almost always around if you need to chat Jill.

    Thinking happy thoughts for you!
