:GIVEAWAY: Final chance to enter for a free copy of A Page Out of Life

FINAL TWO COPIES:
Here's your last chance! I have two more copies of the wonderful novel by Kathleen Reid called A Page Out of Life and they're both going to be given away through a random drawing from the comments to this post.

The women in A Page Out of Life scrapbook for many unique reasons and it was interesting to me how I could relate to several of them as I read this novel.

So, to put your name in the hat for this final drawing, I'd like to here your answer the following question in a comment to this post:

"Why do you scrapbook?"
Now, if you're anything like me, there are probably several reasons and you could almost write a novel answering this question, so focus on your MAIN reason and try to answer it in 50 words or less.

I will accept new comments through Sunday, June 22nd at 11:59 p.m. CST and the 2 random winners (chosen by Random Integer Generator) will be announced on or before Tuesday, so please be sure to check back in.

(Note to entrants: Please, US residents only...sorry, but my budget just can't handle international shipping costs right now.)

  5. I scrapbook for my children. I always want them to know where they come from. They are so blessed and loved and scrapbooking their relationships with family is a way I can share things with them I may otherwise forget by the time they are old enough to ask. It is all about them and their history.

  6. I began scrapbooking when I got pregnant because it seemed like a much more fun way to record memories than a traditional baby book. Of course, now I'm completely hooked, and it has become a total creative outlet for me as well :)

  7. I scrapbook because it gives me a wonderful way to do something creative and preserve our memories at the same time. Plus I've made wonderful friends that I get to spend time with when I scrapbook.

  9. I scrapbook for me! I'm afraid when I get older, I'll have Alzheimer's or Dementia and not remember the life I've lived. I would like to look at my books and see the places I've traveled to and the happy every day moments I've had with DH!

  15. OH,, I have really been wanting this book!!

I scrap for a lot of reasons. The main one is to let my creativeness out! Being able to create something unique with pictures of our everyday life is a wonderful way to keep memories for my children and my grandchildren. And I hope will give them more of an insight as to who I am.

  20. I have been taking photos and documenting them in some way since I was a teenager. I just love re-living the memories over and over again by handling them, and writing about them. Over the years, my hobby earned an official title called "scrapbooking". I have introduced it to many friends. What once was a solitary endeavor for me became a social outlet. I just love the memories, the creativity, the colors and trinkets and yummy pp!

  21. I scrapbook for a lot of reasons... to share my memories with others, to document my son's life, because when I get older I don't want to completely forget all the little things about my and my son's life. Its fun, I can do something that is completely the way I want to - without anyone to tell me that I am doing it wrong..or it should be done this way.

And because... when my son is old and showing it to his children and grandchildren... he will not only be showing what we did but he will be showing them a piece of me... because my whole heart goes into each page of us!

  22. Scrapbooking gives me a sense of accomplishment, a creative outlet and a chance to spend quality time with my daughter and my scrappy friends.

  23. For love. Love of art and creating, love of life and my family, but most of all love of myself. Scrapbooking is a nuturing and intimate process of leaving a piece of me on that paper and what I felt when I put the whole thing together. Yikes, way deep for a Friday ;)

  24. I scrapbook to capture how we live. After my daughter was diagnosed with cancer last September, I realized that it’s the little things that matter most. It’s not just all about the birthdays or holidays (though those are important as well!) but showing our journey.

  25. I scrapbook to express myself artistically and to preserve a lifetime of memories for my family. My children love to look at my pages and taking photos and creating with my hands is my serenity! I also treasure the friends I've made through scrapbooking.

  26. Why do I scrapbook?? Many many reasons. To pass on our family history and to preserve our memories. I want my children, grandchildren and future generations to know us and what our life was like and the things we did. And if for some reason in the future, my mind is gone, I want to be able to look back and see what we did and remember the good AND the bad times. Thanks for the giveaway.

  27. I scrapbook mainly for the reason that it is a creative outlet that also functions as documenting history and special moments in our lives.

  29. There are so many reasons I scrapbook. From preserving history for future generations to having a creative outlet. I do think though that the reason I sit and do it day after day though is because what they say is true. It is truely addiciting and I can't stop myself! When I sit to scrap I'm not thinking about saving memories for my grandkids I'm thinking oh my I have to scrap! It's the addiction!

  39. I started scrapbooking as a therapy to get work thru my depression and the lost of my beloved Smoke. Now I scrap as a stress reliever and a way to pass my memories on to the younger generations. When I am gone someone in the future knows who I am. I worked on my genealogy for a long time and there is not much left of the older generations, in as far as my own mother (who died 23 years ago) goes, there just isnt that much. So I hope that my books go to the future of my family, so they dont have to wonder who or what I am.

  40. I scrapbook as a creative outlet and to record family history as it happens. Also, it's a great way for me to get out of the house, which is important being a stay at home mom of two almost three kids under the age of 4!

  42. I scrapbook to remember, to preserve, to fill hours that seem empty, to heal my soul, to give my great grandchildren roots, to honor my parents, to celebrate live. Nothing on this earth is more important to me than my family. I have approximately 50 years to catch up!

  43. I scrapbook for ME! I know I'm supposed to be scrapbooking for the future generations, but I enjoy cutting paper & pasting! It simply a creative outlet for me.

  44. Scrapbooking for me is to capture and embrace a moment in time to enjoy for years to come, while here on earth and long after I have passed on. The fun part is crafting it all together but the enjoyment is seeing the looks on others faces from the memories each page possess.

  45. Why do you scrapbook? It is my creative way to cherish the special moments in my life! Marymarthainaz :)

  50. Right now the #1 reason I scrap is to record the brief moments we've spent with our 3 precious Angel babies... it'll be my only legacy!

  51. I like to scrap for a lot of reasons, I really like to catch the fun, interesting, off the wall things that our family does that would otherwise be forgotten. I really like being crafty and seeing a cute layout come together. And I like the ability to have a hobby that I can do with other people who are interested in the same things I am

  52. I am probably unusuall in that I scrapbook just for me. Yep, I said it. Just for me. It is my creative outlet, my me time. Shock I know, but it's true! Yes I scrapbook about the usual things my kids, dh and pets. And yes I love that it creates a lasting record for my family of all the stuff that we are doing. And I sincerely hope that my kids want my scrapbooks after I am gone. But I'm not scrapping solely for them. It's for me so that I can re-live and remember all the big & little things we did when I am old and they are grown.

  54. I started scrapbooking as a way to make my pictures look pretty on pages. I was never satisfied to just put pictures in an album...even before the term "scrapbooking" or "acid free" became popular. Now I really want to tell the story. I want to remember the times when I look back and I want my kids to know what funny things they did and how much I love them and maybe even a little about me they didn't know before.

  55. I am a beginning scrapbooker & just love it. I started scrapbooking after my dad passed away. I realized how many photos I had just stored away that needed a 'voice.' It's been very therapeutic for me. Memories last a lifetime - that's why I want to continue this hobby. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome book!

  56. Scrapbooking is a wonderful way to express myself, not only in books, but gifts and decor. I like to see whatever I am working on take shape and make a statement, to me, mostly, but maybe others also.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I scarpbook so that my children have little snippets of their lives that they will have forgotten when they are older. I scrap the holidays, vacations, school, etc but I find that the everyday life pages are my favorite.

  58. I scrapbook both to preserve memories and have a creative outlet. My mom had bags of photos and wasn't doing anything with them. Started out making cards but mom asked why I spent so much time making things to give away that not everyone appreciated...so I got into scrapbooking and haven't looked back!
